Short Description The foreign policy process is considered to be a complicated one as a large number of determinants are involved at the initial and final stages of its development. It is somewhat difficult to exactly locate the determination which directly influence the foreign policy of a country. In the beginning of this study, the basic and fundamental determinants of foreign policy have been analysed from theoretical perspective.Their role and importance in the foreign policy making and implementation process have also been discussed..The efforts made by the Pakistan Government to strengthen its national capability, particularly building its economic, industrial and military capability, in order to achieve its foreign policy aims and national interests, have been examined in detail. In the case of Pakistan's foreign policy , a number of determination have in one way or the other affected it. But the most important are, the domestic and international milieu, which are unstable in nature, and the foreign policy planners of Pakistan have always carefully analysed each and every aspect of these two determinants before initiating and implementing any foreign policy moves, like cementing of its relations with the Muslim World , joining of the NAM, efforts to politicise the SAARC etc. That is why they are successful in achieving the basic objectives of their country's foreign policy. These have been analysed by giving due importance to different variables of these two determinants. This study will be of immense use to students and scholars of politics and international relations, diplomats and those who are keen to further study the various aspects of Pakistan's foreign policy and other related matters.
